Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Matchy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application, our marketing website (including the email waitlist), and related services (together, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. For how the Service works contractually, see our Terms of Use.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account and profile

  • Authentication: Email address and password when you register with email sign-in.
  • Profile and preferences: Style preferences, onboarding answers, and other choices you make in the app.
  • Wardrobe data: Clothing items, categories, and related details you add to your digital wardrobe.

1.2 Photos and media

  • Clothing images: When you photograph or upload wardrobe items, images may be transmitted to our servers and processed to power features such as item recognition, outfit suggestions, shopping guidance, and packing.

1.3 Location and weather

  • Weather context: To tailor daily outfits, we may use location information you provide (such as city) or device location permission if you grant it, solely to fetch weather-related context for styling suggestions.

1.4 Usage of the Service

  • Device and app data: Basic technical information needed to run the app (for example, app version, device type, OS version, and locale).
  • Crash and diagnostics: Crash logs and performance data that help us keep the Service stable.
  • Analytics: Usage data that helps us understand how features are used and improve the product.
  • Notifications: If you enable reminders or push notifications, we use your device’s notification permissions and the settings you configure in the app.

1.5 Website and waitlist

  • Waitlist: If you submit your email on our site to hear about launches or updates, we store that address (and basic technical details sent with the form, such as language and browser user agent) to communicate with you about Matchy.

2. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate you and secure your account
  • Power wardrobe, styling, shopping, and packing features
  • Personalise suggestions using weather and your preferences
  • Operate AI-powered features
  • Process subscriptions and entitlements
  • Send important notices, waitlist updates, and (where you allow) product communications
  • Analyse usage, fix crashes, and protect against abuse
  • Comply with law and protect users

We do not sell your personal information, including your personal style data.

3. Artificial intelligence

Certain features use automated processing, including machine learning and vision models, to:

  • Analyse clothing photos and help organise your wardrobe.
  • Suggest outfits, shopping ideas, and packing lists using your wardrobe and preferences.

Images and related inputs may be processed by trusted third-party processors acting under contract, solely to deliver and improve these features. We do not use your wardrobe photos to train public models for unrelated products.

Important

AI outputs are estimates or suggestions, not guarantees. Do not rely on them as the sole basis for purchases or travel packing decisions.

4. How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Service providers: Cloud hosting, authentication, AI processing, weather data, analytics, crash reporting, and similar vendors who process data on our instructions under contractual safeguards.
  • App stores: Apple and/or Google process subscription payments and related entitlement data according to their own policies.
  • Legal: When required by law, or to protect Matchy, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality.

5. Legal bases (EU / GDPR)

If laws such as the GDPR apply (including when we operate from Sweden), we rely on:

  • Performance of a contract — providing the Service you request.
  • Legitimate interests — security, improvement, fraud prevention, and analytics that do not override your rights.
  • Consent — where required (for example, certain notifications, optional analytics, or precise location), which you may withdraw at any time in device or app settings.
  • Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

6. Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain data longer where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes), then delete or anonymise it.

Waitlist emails are kept until they are no longer needed for launch communications or you ask us to remove them, subject to applicable law.

You may request account deletion by contacting us (see Contact below).

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Sweden, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten — IMY)

You can also manage notification and location permissions in your device settings, and manage App Store subscriptions in your Apple (or Google) account.

For privacy requests, contact us using the details in Contact below.

9. International transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers.

10. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that violates applicable children’s privacy laws. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it where required.

11. Third-party services

The Service may contain links or integrations governed by third-party privacy policies (for example, Apple, Google, weather providers, or analytics tools). We encourage you to read those policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised Policy and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice as required by law or in the app. Continued use of Matchy after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
